Caritas

I am Caritas Ndayegamiye and I am from Burundi.

  • Caritas attended REMCREAD sewing workshops co-organised by ATEMOS and came up with her own project idea.

The Circular Fashion Project promotes repairing, reusing, redesigning, and recycling, mainly in the clothing industry. It focuses on creativity, traditional garments, circular fashion practices, clothing repair and alterations, restyling and second-hand use, and the use of upholstery fabrics.

The project has a strong social impact, aiming to make sustainable fashion accessible and empowering for all.

By offering low-cost clothing, repairs, and upcycled items, the project ensures that high-quality, sustainable fashion remains accessible to people with limited financial resources. This approach encourages inclusion while reducing economic barriers to creativity and self-expression.

The project is rooted in principles of sustainability and circularity, aiming to reduce waste and promote responsible consumption.

Repair - Reuse - Recycle: By prioritising the repair of garments, encouraging the reuse of materials, and transforming unused textiles into new creations, the project actively reduces textile waste. This circular approach extends the lifespan of clothing, minimises environmental impact, and fosters a culture of mindful, eco-friendly fashion.
